10 Mile Point ecological reserve, Victoria

The exological reserve of 10 mile point is a fun dive for intermediate – advanced divers. The current here can be extreme, and once you  are getting swept up by it and hauled around the point you will feel as if you are on a roller coaster. However, there is a lot of sea life and if you get good visibility it is a great dive location. Get to the parking lot at McAnally rd, and jump in on either side of 10 mile point on the beach, depending on what the current is doing. If you are unsure, just jump in between both beaches so you have escape options in either direction. Even if you don’t get up to the beach, you can get out at the rocky coast nearly anywhere and the current normally takes you around the point, and not out into open waters, but take care either way. 10-mile point is fun, but maybe not for the faint of heart. I remember diving here on a very low tidal exchange, near slack, and was amazed at how strong the current was.

You can see fish, kelp, anemones, krill, crab, and quite a lot of it. The bottom is gently sloping and rocky overall, so don’t expect deep wall dives.
